Open HubSpot tickets with no owner

An open ticket without an owner sits in a shared queue where everyone assumes someone else has it. Filter open tickets with no owner, assign them now, and set up assignment rules so new tickets always get an owner.

ServiceSERVICE-001Updated 2026-10-28

Why it matters

Customers wait longer, and SLA and response-time reports cannot show who is accountable.

Unassigned tickets often come from a channel or form that was never connected to routing.

How to find it in HubSpot

  1. Open CRM > Tickets in the table view.
  2. Add the filter Ticket owner is unknown.
  3. Add the filter Ticket status is none of your closed statuses.
  4. Add the Source and Create date columns to find which channels create them.

How to fix it safely

  1. Assign the current backlog, oldest first.
  2. Set up assignment rules by inbox, pipeline, category, or customer tier.
  3. Name an escalation owner for tickets that do not match any rule.
