Open HubSpot deals with no owner

A deal with no owner gets no follow-up, no reminders, and no place in anyone’s pipeline review. Filter open deals where deal owner is unknown, reassign them, and fix the import, form, or workflow that created them without an owner.

DealsDEAL-004Updated 2026-10-28

Why it matters

Owner-based views, rep dashboards, and task reminders all depend on Deal owner. Unowned deals fall outside every one of them.

Unowned deals often come from imports, integrations, or former employees whose users were removed.

How to find it in HubSpot

  1. Open CRM > Deals in the table view.
  2. Add the filter Deal owner is unknown.
  3. Exclude closed stages with Deal stage is none of Closed won and Closed lost.
  4. Add the Create date and Original source columns to see where the deals came from.

How to fix it safely

  1. Reassign each deal to the person who now owns the relationship.
  2. Check the source. If deals arrive from an integration or import without an owner, add an owner rule there.
  3. Add an owner-assignment workflow (for example, rotate or assign from the associated company owner) for deals created without one.
