Stale HubSpot deals with no recent updates

An open deal nobody has touched in 14 days is often already lost. Filter open deals by last modified or last activity date, review each one with its owner, and either set a next step or close it.

DealsDEAL-001Updated 2026-10-28

Why it matters

Stale deals keep their full value in pipeline and forecast reports, which makes coverage ratios look healthier than they are.

They also hide the deals that need attention, because reps scroll past the same untouched records every week.

How to find it in HubSpot

  1. Open CRM > Deals in the table view.
  2. Add the filter Last modified date is more than 14 days ago. For a stricter view, use Last activity date instead.
  3. Exclude closed stages with Deal stage is none of Closed won and Closed lost.
  4. Add the Deal owner, Amount, and Next activity date columns.

How to fix it safely

  1. Review the list in your weekly pipeline meeting, largest amounts first.
  2. For each deal, either schedule a next activity or close it with a reason.
  3. Consider a workflow that creates a task for the owner when a deal goes 14 days without an update.
