HubSpot contacts with no email address

A contact with no email address cannot be emailed, enrolled in a sequence, or reliably deduplicated. Filter contacts where email is unknown, find which import or integration created them, and decide whether to enrich, keep, or archive them.

ContactsCONTACT-002Updated 2026-10-28

Why it matters

Email is HubSpot’s main identifier for contacts. Without it, duplicates are more likely and reports by contact are less reliable.

Large numbers of email-less contacts usually point to an import or integration with a broken field mapping.

How to find it in HubSpot

  1. Open CRM > Contacts.
  2. Add the filter Email is unknown.
  3. Add the Original source, Create date, and Associated company columns.
  4. Group the results by source to find the import or integration responsible.

How to fix it safely

  1. Fix the field mapping in the import or integration that created them.
  2. Enrich high-value contacts (those with deals or recent activity) from your own records.
  3. Archive old email-less contacts with no activity, deals, or tickets after an agreed period, such as 90 days.
