HubSpot deals missing a deal amount

Deals without an amount add nothing to pipeline value or weighted forecasts, so the pipeline looks smaller than it is. Filter open deals where amount is unknown or zero, have owners enter a realistic value, and require amount once pricing has been discussed.

DealsDEAL-003Updated 2026-10-28

Why it matters

Pipeline value, weighted forecast, and average deal size reports all depend on the Amount property. Missing amounts quietly lower every one of them.

Zero-value deals are often placeholders created early in a conversation and never updated.

How to find it in HubSpot

  1. Open CRM > Deals in the table view.
  2. Add the filter Amount is unknown. Create a second view with Amount is equal to 0.
  3. Exclude closed stages with Deal stage is none of Closed won and Closed lost.
  4. Add the Deal owner and Deal stage columns and sort by stage.

How to fix it safely

  1. Ask owners for their best current estimate. An estimate with a note is more useful than a blank.
  2. If you sell with line items, add them so the amount is calculated rather than typed.
  3. Make Amount required at the stage where pricing is first discussed.
