Duplicate HubSpot list names

When two lists share a name, whoever builds the next email or workflow is guessing which one is right. Sort lists by name, decide which copy is current, rename the rest clearly, and adopt a naming convention.

Why it matters

Choosing the wrong list sends the wrong message to the wrong people, which is hard to undo.

Duplicates usually come from cloning lists for a campaign and never renaming them.

How to find it in HubSpot

  1. Open CRM > Segments (Lists in older portals).
  2. Sort by name so identical names sit together.
  3. Compare the criteria, size, and usage of each duplicate.

How to fix it safely

  1. Keep the copy that is in use and rename it clearly.
  2. Rename or delete the other copies after checking nothing depends on them.
  3. Use a naming convention such as Type - Criteria - Date.
