Duplicate HubSpot workflow names

Two or more workflows with the same name make it easy to edit, pause, or delete the wrong one. Search your workflow list for repeated names, rename each with what it actually does, and adopt a simple naming convention.

WorkflowsWORKFLOW-005Updated 2026-10-28

Why it matters

Admins edit or switch off the wrong automation because the list shows two identical names.

Duplicates usually come from cloning a workflow to test a change and never renaming or removing the copy.

How to find it in HubSpot

  1. Open Automation > Workflows.
  2. Sort the list by name so identical names sit next to each other.
  3. Open each duplicate and compare its trigger, actions, and status.

How to fix it safely

  1. Decide which copy is the live one and confirm it with the owner.
  2. Rename every workflow using a convention such as Team - Trigger - Action.
  3. Turn off and archive copies that are no longer needed, after checking nothing else depends on them.
